September at Ribbon Wands

Ah, I love the routine that September brings. It's been a great summer, with new adventures and accomplishments. The Ribbon Wand Shop has taken it quiet and easy over the summer, but things are gearing up for holidays and I have lots of fun, new ideas I hope to be introducing over the upcoming months. There is no official theme for September, but it is very much back to school, and back to work around our place...so that's my current mantra. Getting back into the swing of things and excited to begin some new designs!

It's Official

The Ribbon Wand Shop

I registered my future website today. It's for real now! I'm planning on making some changes that hopefully will allow the shop to be more seamless and set the stage for the shop to operate with more independence in the future. So, all you web builders out there, be prepared for questions from the clueless, er, me. I truly have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to website building, but I'm up for learning!

Sherwood Park and Area Etsians and Crafters

Check this out: SHERWOOD PARK SHOP

I know the ladies that are putting this event on and happily throw my support behind them and their ideas for this event. I think they are offering a fabulously affordable registration fee that covers rental and advertisement for the event. If you know anyone in the area who is looking for an opportunity to share, grow or launch a business idea, this event may be just the thing!

Ribbon Wand Tip

The best tip for the new Ribbon Wand user: Hold the Wand base pointing downwards and make a small tight stirring motion. Young users are tempted to hold the wand straight out in front of them and this often causes the ribbon to wind tight and tangle, rather than twirl. So the stirring move is a great first step to get used to moving the ribbon in a satisfying way.

July at Ribbon Wands

Photo taken during our trip to Banff.

I can't believe that it is almost the middle of July? I keep asking myself, "have I squeezed enough summer in the past 14 days?" I think me and my family have done an admirable job, but a rainy day seems to put me on edge in the summer, and make me wonder how many more summer days are before us. Hopefully more sunshine than rain awaits!

The shop is slowly filling up with wands again. Back from a summer holidays and time to get back to it in the studio! I have some fun palette ideas I'll be working on over the next week, so stay tuned for that. Hope you're enjoying summer in your corner of the world!

Weddings

Oh how I love making Ribbon Girl wands for weddings. It is probably my absolute favorite project. I have had the pleasure of working with many fantastic brides...and not a bridezilla in the bunch! I just received this link from a previous client today and must share it with you. It has some incredible images from her New York Wedding that were shared on the Style Me Pretty blog, which is one of the best bridal blogs out there. Thanks for the link Annette, and thanks to all the brides that make Ribbon Wands a part of their special day!

21 minutes well spent

I encourage you to take some time and watch this great little video by Annie Leonard called The Story of Stuff. It really makes you look at what we consume, and personally, it reminds me of the importance of vigilant business practices in my own company. Hope you take the time to watch it.

June July and August

I'm so excited for summer to arrive in earnest! Summer is a quieter time around the Ribbon Wands Shop. Wands are purchased for the express purpose of enjoying outside play, running in the breeze and dancing in the sunshine. Only a few new wand designs will be introduced over the summer as the preparations are made for the busy Christmas season.

Here's wishing you a summer of wonderful memories, laughter and moments of sheer fun!
