New Packaging

Here's a peek at the new packaging. This is how the wands arrive in the bubble mailer. Shiny goodness!

Low down on Etsy #1

I've had lots of people asking me about the benefits and disadvantages of opening an Etsy shop. I love the whole Etsy concept, and support the many shopkeeps doing their darndest to make some cash off of what they love to do. I'm going to do the hairclub thing and say: I'm not only a seller but a happy buyer.

Having said that, be prepared to pay 9% of your list and postage price in fee's. That's assuming you use paypal, which at this time is the most user friendly option. So before you list and price that item, be sure to take that fee into account. You can also accept money orders and perhaps even set up your own credit card system, but I haven't opted for those yet, as I'm still a "little gal" in the big pond.

Vacation Announcment

Ribbon Wands will be closed from November 9th - November18th. All orders made during this time will be filled the following week. Thank you!

Custom Orders

Custom Order requests are on hold right now. Feel free to contact me regarding anything you may require for Christmas but I won't be able to work on these orders until after November 19th. I can take Christmas orders right up until December 8th of this year. Other than that my etsy store will continue to have wands that are already made and ready for shipping. Thanks!

New Shipping!!

K...so the shipping costs have been making me crazy. I hate that it costs so much! I usually end up eating a portion of the cost myself, with the cost of the mailing tube I was using and the crazy price of shipping it. So I've really been brainstorming ways of turning my small package cost into an envelope cost. I think I've found the answer.

I purchased a size three bubble envelope and have cut it in half, providing two mailers at the exact size I need! 4 x 14. So excited about this and the potential for waaayyy cheaper mailing this will provide for my customers. Gonna send out a few sample mailings before I confirm a cost.

Imaginative Play Crisis?

This is an interesting article, brought to my attention by a friend who is passionate about fostering creativity in her children. Our modern society promotes passive play to the degree that our children become detached from hands on learning and instead have a belief in push button thinking. Interesting read...
